MEET SILVIA WANYONYI
EDUCATION & TRAINING
I completed my highschool
education at Tuwan Girls High
School and I later I trained as
an Early Childhood teacher at
Migori Teachers Training
College in Kitale.
CURRENT ROLE & IMPACT
I teach lower primary classes
(Grade 1-3), with about 40
students in each class.
PERSONAL INTERESTS & HOBBIES
Outside the classroom, I love
singing in my church choir and
tending to my vegetable garden.

BACKGROUND & CALLING
I was born and raised in a small village outside Kitale. Growing up, I saw many children drop out of school because their families couldn’t afford uniforms or books. That pain called me to become a teacher.
PASSION & TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I teach the lower classes, where I help children read their first words. Nothing gives me greater joy than hearing them pronounce new sounds with pride. I believe every child deserves love and patience, no matter their background.
CHALLENGES & NEEDS
Our classrooms have no proper desks, and many children share old, broken chairs. We also lack enough storybooks to help children learn to read.
DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE
With sponsorship, I one day dream of building a small library where my pupils can discover the world through books.
